Equal themes

Equal themes

Equal in Great Britain operates in thematic fields defined in the context of the four pillars of the European Employment Strategy. Equal’s themes address key labour market policy areas.

A: Facilitating access

Facilitating access and return to the labour market for those who have difficulty in being integrated or re-integrated into a labour market which must be open to all.

B: Ethnic minorities

Opportunities to promote potential for ethnic minorities within the world of work.

C: Business creation

Opening up the business creation process to all by providing the tools required for setting up in business and for the identification and exploitation of new possibilities for creating employment in urban and rural areas.

D: Social economy

Strengthening the social economy (the third sector), in particular the services of interest to the community, with a focus on improving the quality of jobs.

E: Lifelong learning and inclusive working practices

Promoting lifelong learning and inclusive work practices which encourage the recruitment and retention of those suffering discrimination and inequality in connection with the labour market.

F: Supporting adaptability

Supporting adaptability of firms and employees to structural economic change and the use of information technology and other new technologies.

H: Gender equality

Promoting gender equality in the work place, reducing gender gaps and supporting job desegregation.

I: Asylum seekers

Helping the integration of asylum seekers.

Thematic Networking Groups

TNGs for each theme include relevant policy representatives from government departments, the equality commissions, social partners and DPs.


Transnationality

Transnationality

Transnationality is an essential element in Equal for promoting the transfer of know-how and good practice between partnerships and between member states.

European Thematic Groups

ETGs are the mechanism by which outcomes from Equal DPs are shared across all the participating countries.

ETCIM

ETCIM is an Internet-based tool designed to help DPs to input, modify, validate and submit their TCAs.

Equal Common Database

The ECDB contains information on all of the projects financed within the European Union and in some candidate countries.
