Working for Equality and Diversity conference
30 March 2004
The launch of the Second Round of Equal took place on 30 March 2004 at the Commonwealth Institute in London. The conference opened with the Plenary session and featured keynote presentations from the DWP and the European Commission, Chris Pond, Ken Lambert and Marie Donnelly. The Equal video was premiered in the plenary session.
Following the plenary, the workshop sessions on the eight Equal themes were convened. Each thematic workshop presented examples of activities funded through Round 1, highlighting achievements to date. The workshops followed a simple format: an overview of each theme was presented by the members of each Thematic Networking Group, followed by Round 1 DPs presenting on their key activities and outcomes, followed by a Question and Answer session. The presentations from each thematic workshop will be made available shortly.
Showcase exhibition
The conference also featured an extensive exhibition, showcasing the successes of Equal and also including short performances by beneficiaries. There were around 60 stands featuring policy makers, TNG members, DPs and a stand for the Support Unit, which provided delegates with an excellent opportunity to network with key stakeholders from Equal.
