Launch of first round Equal DPs
Applications were scored against the agreed selection framework, set out in the guidance for completing the application form. Thematic Networking Groups (TNGs) of policy specialists were invited to consider the scored, ranked assessments and make strategic recommendations to the GB Monitoring Committee. The final decisions for funding of DPs in England, Scotland and Wales were made by the Monitoring Committee.

Of the total 77 applications selected for funding under the Equal first call across Great Britain, seven had a specific focus in Scotland, and three in Wales. The 67 remaining DPs focused on meeting national priorities and worked with partners exclusively in England or in Wales and/or Scotland, or worked across all three countries. Of these, one application submitted under Theme I was UK-wide and included a partner in Northern Ireland. In addition, Northern Ireland selected eight applications for funding.

The total request for ESF funding (to be matched at 50%) amounts to some £3.9 million in Action 1 across Great Britain. Subject to the satisfactory completion of Action 1, activities to the value of some £86 million will be funded during Action 2 across Great Britain. Distribution of Action 2 funding by theme can be seen in the chart below.
