How is Equal delivered?

Equal operates in stages called Actions 1, 2, 3 and 4.

Action 1 is the first stage lasting up to six months. During this action, DPs finalise their constitution and prepare their programme of activities.

Action 2 is the main implementation phase when DPs carry out the activities of their work programmes approved at the end of Action 1.

Action 3 is for thematic networking and dissemination of good practice. In this action, DPs aim to transfer their lessons learned in order to impact on national policies.

Actions 1 and 2 are sequential. Selected DP will be expected to start Action 3 as soon as results are available to disseminate and therefore may run alongside Action 2.

Each DP must also be part of a Transnational Partnership, with at least one DP from another member state. The partnership then works together on activities set out in their Transnational Co-operation Agreement.

Action 4 funds the Technical Assistance in Great Britain, Scotland and Wales to provide support to DPs and Thematic Networking Groups. This includes publicity, evaluation and providing support to the Great Britain Monitoring Committee as well as other co-ordination activities.
